The New Halo TV Series To Be Produced By Steven Spielberg

When we think of Steven Spielberg, the first thing that comes to mind would be “E.T the Extraterrestrial”, and admit it, it made us all cry. Can he spin his magic for one of the most-popular video game franchises of all time as well?


This billion dollar-earning movie cemented its name in history. But when we mention the word Halo, you know it’s one of the best games ever developed. Since Microsoft wanted to go big with the launch of the Xbox One, they wanted something different this time. To create premium content for their next generation game console, Steven Spielberg will be producing a Halo live-action TV series for Xbox Live.


With the new technologies and features packed into the Xbox One, Nancy Tellem, Microsoft’s president for digital media, said that ”Until now ,the TV viewing experience has been a one way street for the viewer. But now that’s about to change.” Since she is the one overseeing the projects for Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios, her team plans to release more content within the year. Some of these planned shows and content are reality shows, live events, game and even sport shows. To encourage Xbox One players to watch the new content on Xbox Live, Tellem assures the gamers that the production quality of their shows will be at the level of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”


With Nancy Tellem’s experience with media and Steven Spielberg’s creative genius at play, we can expect something good, especially with the Halo series. Spielberg admits that he has been a fan of video games since the advent of Pong. For him, “…the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet,” Also, Bonnie Ross, head of 343 Studio said that “the storytelling magic of television with the interactive innovation of Xbox One.”


As of the moment, the details about the Halo live-action TV series are still kept secret. We all know that Steven Spielberg and his team will make sure Halo’s mythos will be treated accordingly. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that we can see Master Chief soon.
